Evaluation of Dysfunction of Temporomandibular Disc
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: The most often derangement is disc malposition in relation with mandible condyle and temporal bone. The aim of the study: The aim of this study is to explain the histological changes in loaded and malposition temporomandibular disc in patients with jaw joint disorders.Material and Methods: The examination is done over a group of four female patients with temporomandibular joint disorders. Discussion: Disc malposition known also as disc dislocation is characterized with disc dislocation in joint space when jaws are in close or near closed position. Conclusion: Changes in the organization and composition of the malpositioned disc and posterior attachment tissues are secondary to abnormal loading which induces cell-driven processes of degradation and reassembly of the extracellular matrix.

Accuracy Rate of Clinical Diagnosis of Disc Displacement without Reduction in Temporomandibular Joint Using MRI
Introduction: Internal derangement (ID) of TMJ is the most common type of temporomandibular disorders after muscle disorders and includes all disorders related to incoordination and dislocation of disc and condyle. Anterior disc displacement without reduction or closed lock will happen if the disc or condyle displaces severely or if the disc traps in the space in front of the condyle accompanie...
متن کاملThe Relationship between Temporomandibular Dysfunction and Head and Cervical Posture
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the possibility of any correlation between disc displacement and parameters used for evaluation of skull positioning in relation to the cervical spine: craniocervical angle, suboccipital space between C0-C1, cervical curvature and position of the hyoid bone in individuals with and without symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction. MATERIAL AND METHODS Th...

Introduction: Myofascial Pain Dysfunction Syndrome (MPDS) is one of the most important causes of the orofacial pain. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate 40 related variables in this regard. Materials and Methods: Thirty nine patients with MPDS were evaluated in this study. Different factors including age, gender, occupation, marital status, sensitivity of masticatory muscles, maxi...
متن کاملGlobal Body Posture Evaluation in Patients with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
AIM To identify the relationship between anterior disc displacement and global posture (plantar arches, lower limbs, shoulder and pelvic girdle, vertebral spine, head and mandibles). Common signs and symptoms of anterior disc displacement were also identified. INTRODUCTION Global posture deviations cause body adaptation and realignment, which may interfere with the organization and function o...
متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Evaluation for Anterior Disc Displacement of the Temporomandibular Joint
BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the criterion standard imaging technique for visualization of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) region, and is currently considered the optimum modality for comprehensive evaluation in patients with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). This study was aimed at finding the value of MRI in pre-clinical diagnosis of TMJ disc displacement. MATERIAL A...
